Courtroom Rules

Conduct

  1. ALL WEAPONS are PROHIBITED in the Courtroom and this building EXCEPT for LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.

           PENAL CODE Section 46.03(a)(3)

  1. Be on time.
  2. All cell phones, laptops or tablets in the courtroom will be on silent mode.
  3. Follow the Constable’s instructions.
  4. Do not approach the Judge’s bench without permission.
  5. Address the court as “Judge” or “Your Honor.”
  6. Racist, sexist, obscene, or profane language is prohibited unless it is pertinent to a case, and is elicited and quoted from facts in the case.
  7. Do not chew gum in the Courtroom or bring drinks or food items into the Courtroom.
  8. All property in the Courtroom and reception area must be treated with respect. No writing on any papers posted or furniture.
  9. No recording devices are allowed without judicial approval.
  10. Respect court personnel at all times.

Attire

  1. Please remove all hats or other headgear when entering the courtroom;
  2. No exposed midriffs or suggestive clothing;
  3. No tank tops or halter style garments;
  4. No excessively low rise jeans, pants, skirts, or shorts;
  5. No garments with offensive slogans or advertising alcohol or drug
