Pursuant to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended (ADA) of 1990 (42 U.S.C.§§12101 et seq.) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Section 504) (29 U.S.C. §794) and implementing regulations found in 28 CFR 35 and 49 CFR 27, Bastrop County does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities in its policies, or in the admission of, access to, treatment of or employment in its programs, services or activities.
ADA Policy
The purpose of the policy found below is to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") and related statues & regulatory requirements and to assure that persons with disabilities have equal access to Bastrop County ("County") facilities, services, programs, activities, and employment.
ADA Coordinator
The ADA Coordinator is authorized to ensure Bastrop County's compliance with the provisions of the County's ADA policy and with applicable law.
The County will provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services, including qualified sign language interpreters and assistive listening devices, whenever necessary to ensure effective communication with members of the public who have hearing, sight, or speech impairments, unless to do so would result in a fundamental alteration of its programs or cause an under administration or undue financial burden. A person who requires an accommodation or auxiliary aid or service to participate in a County Program, service, or activity, should contact the sponsoring Department or ADA Coordinator at 512-581-7120. Requests should be made as far in advance as possible before the scheduled event. We will make every effort to provide accommodation received with less than 48 hours’ notice, however, these requests cannot be guaranteed.
